‘Vulnerability is not weakness. [It is] emotional risk, exposure, and uncertainty. Vulnerability is having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. It fuels our daily lives. It is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change… it is the best gauge of true courage.’ Brene Brown

The V Word: Why Vulnerability is a Superpower

Saturday June 5th, 9:30am – 12pm

This live session with psychotherapist and ex rugby player Jon Bell will help you understand vulnerability, how it can help you and those around you, and leave you feeling more capable than ever.

Drawing on years of research, teachings from the sports and psychotherapeutic world as well as the work of Brene Brown, this workshop aims to help you understand the power of building vulnerability-friendly cultures and vulnerable, authentic lives.

Regardless of your background or prior knowledge of shame and vulnerability, this workshop will invite you to question your held beliefs and perceptions about what vulnerability actually is and help you understand how it can be harnessed and applied throughout your life. It promises to be an incredibly powerful session for teams and leaders, sportspeople, curious yogis and anyone looking to live more authentic lives.

    Who’s Jon?

Jon Bell is a qualified integrative counsellor and sports psychotherapist with Jon Bell Counselling & Sports Psychotherapy in York and Associate Therapist with Mantality in Leeds.

Jon is a former professional rugby player and teacher, now living and working in York whilst trying to avoid the temptation to play the ever-enticing ‘one last game.’ Jon’s dissertation into vulnerability incorporated the views and perspectives of professional and retired athletes, shining a light on the challenge we all face in presenting ourselves authentically in a world that monetises artificial ‘image’ and very often greets vulnerability with exposure and judgement.
