I’m feeling a bit blue today.

So I’m writing this email not really to you, friend, as I’m sure you’re in the very peak of good vibes reading this drivel with a green smoothie in-hand and with a healthy work-life balance that lights the sparkle in your eye.

No, really I’m writing this to myself.

Here’s four things I need to tell myself today *just incase* you need to hear them, too:

1. Stop checking your F***ing emails every ten seconds.

Yes, I do this. This is the result of being the captain of the best online yoga studio going (members say this, not just me. Honest) and it’s down to these beautiful smartphones we latch ourselves onto so vehemently. Thanks, Steve Jobs. I was happy with my brick-like Motorola in the ’90s, ta. Emails, be gone. I’ll get to ’em when I get to ’em.

2. Turn your phone off.

My mum was lovely enough to give me one of her old phones the other day. It’s got the Calm app on it (guys, get this if you haven’t already. Steve, I’m sorry for what I said earlier) and if anyone needs me that desperately, the universe will help you guess my new WhatsApp number.

3. Stop trying to lose bloody weight.

Today, just eat the things. Yes, I’m trying to fit into all the clothes that no longer do thanks to opening a yoga studio, getting a bit stressed about it, the pandemic throwing us a gentle curve-ball (hello Zoom yoga!) and eating my feelings for three years. Also, side-note, it’s ok to not fit into all the clothes you once did fit into. Let’s collectively and ritualistically burn them sometime?! 🤔

4. Stop trying to be so damn productive.

Somedays we just need to loouuunge. And watch Queer Eye. And eat cake and drink tea. ‘Specially when we’ve got the blues (which is okay, by the way. It’s a beautiful part of this human condition. Just roll with it).

So, those are my four things. What would yours be?

Maybe:

  • Give yourself credit for the cool stuff you create or do.
  • Take some time to get outside. Yes, even if it’s raining and gloomy.
  • Nap.
  • Stop eating cake.
  • Eat more cake.
  • Call your mum.
  • Go to bed early.
  • Practice yoga.
  • Meditate.

*I can help with those last two, just head here to grab our two week free trial. Not ready for the membership yet? Take the quiz to find out what kind of yogi you are, and get a free class with yours truly.

However you’re feelin’ today, you beautiful human, you, make sure you make time for the light, kind, fluffy and lovely.

That’s all.
